About the role

We have a vacancy for an Intelligent Systems Engineer. The position is ideal for someone wishing to have broad design and development remit in satisfying  customer needs through advanced technologies.

Loxham products are highly integrated multi axis ultra precision machines and motion systems. Our products are supplied with intelligent systems developed in-house, these often employ optical imaging, position/acceleration sensors and laser based metrology technologies.

Typically you will be work in a small team, sometimes alone and with direct contact with our high technology customers.

Activities will include the design and optimisation of intelligent motion systems capable of sub-micron repeatability with high dynamic response informed by a range of sensor technologies. Engineering disciplines will likely include; advanced motion control, machine dynamics, optical system design, image processing and measurement technologies.

About you

To join us you will be a highly enthusiastic engineer wanting to innovate and create leading performance and cost effective solutions to meet our customer needs and timescales. This role is suitable for an early stage career applicant having an appropriate degree / HNC qualification with some evidence to demonstrate ability to apply knowledge. More experienced applicants will be considered.

You will be conversant with digital systems, their interfacing and processing environments. You will see yourself as a "self learner" and "being comfortable" stepping outside your own field of expertise.

You will have some of the following skills: motion control design, electrical design, interfacing and digital communications, image processing, measurement technologies and metrology. Having awareness of precision machinery and manufacturing technology will be beneficial.

Ideally, you will have experience in programming in either C, Matlab or Python, and in applying code to machinery or a sensor system. Familiarity with CAD, CAM, FEA, CNC systems would again be beneficial.

Close team working, with a can do attitude is vital, combined with effective problem solving skills. Good communication, planning and organisational skills are essential.
